What to Expect at Church

If you don’t usually attend a church we understand it might seem a little strange and daunting the first time you come to visit! Please be assured of a very warm welcome if you choose to come and visit us in Ballymoney Elim We hope we can make you feel at home and answer any questions you might have.

What happens when I arrive?

When you arrive you will be welcomed by one of our members. The layout of the church makes it easy to get around and there are always plenty of people who will be happy to help you find your way. Don’t be afraid to ask. There are no reserved seats so feel free to sit wherever you feel most comfortable.

What are the services like?

The worship service on Sunday morning normally starts with a time of worship when we sing a variety of songs as an expression of thanks and devotion to God. These songs are a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary songs. Please do join in and sing with us if you feel able to.

Sometimes at this point the pastor will speak. This is called the sermon which explains and helps us to apply the teaching of the Bible. We believe that God speaks to us through the Bible and we hope you will come to hear and learn more.

Also during the morning service we have communion. This is a time where everyone who is a Christian join together to remember the death of Jesus and celebrate His resurrection.

An offering is taken from our regular congregation but there is no pressure to give. Rather we hope we can give to you when you visit, by giving you a warm, loving welcome, and by sharing the love of Jesust with you.

The evening service follows a similar format but without communion. Refreshments are served after the evening service

What should I wear?

When you come and spend some time with us at Ballymoney Elim we want you to feel comfortable and at ease. You will see adults and children wearing everything from jeans and t-shirts to suits and ties so please don’t feel you need to “dress up”; just come as you are.

Will there be something for my children?

The children join the main service for the worship time and normally sit at the front of the church on the left hand side. They go out near the end of the service to continue their own ‘church’. More details can be found on the KLIC page.

Crèche is available for babies and toddlers  where the service is relayed so you don’t miss anything. This can also be used in the evening service if your child gets restless.

If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to contact us. We would be delighted to help in any way we can.
